Grain size statistics from river sediments (no period) The table should have only three horizontal lines across its entire width: one each above and below the column titles and one below the body of the table. Footnotes, if any, appear below the third line. Label footnotes with lower case letters if numbers look like superscripts of values in the table. Do not use vertical lines in a table. Tables are placed in a document as are Figures (q.v.). In a paper submitted for publication the tables precede the list of figures but do not require a separate list of their titles.
