Quotations Shorter than about 20 words are incorporated into the text using the same font and set off with single quotation marks. Indicate the page number from which the quotation was taken in the citation. Jones (1991, p. 34) stated that 'normally .... water freezes at 32°F [0°C] under natural conditions'. Material left out is indicated by four periods; material added by square brackets. (sic) indicates errors that are transcribed in the quotation. Normally, longer quotations should be used to provide material available only in rare or unpublished sources. They are indented as a separate block without quotation marks, and are single spaced and set in a smaller type font. The source may be cited above or below but the page or pages are shown in brackets at the end of the quotation.
